Passport Application - Lon Rogers - 1921

Alonzo "Lon" Rogers, son of William Loyd Rogers and Magdalena James (Butler County), was born at Beaver Dam 6 July 1872. Lon had a twin brother named Alfonso. Lon and his wife, Jessie R. Rogers, applied for permission to travel to Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Great Britain, Scotland, Greece, and Gibraltar. He was living at Ashland, Boyd County, at the time of his application and he listed his occupation as a coal operator. Lon died 21 October 1946 in Boyd County. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville, Muhlenberg County.  Mr. & Mrs. Rogers established a trust to provide financial aid to students from Muhlenberg County to attend Centre College.

The home of Mr. & Mrs. Lon Rogers in Ashland, KY was built about 1920.  It was added to the National Register of Homes in 1979. The home includes early 20th century architecture with features representing the Italian Renaissance era. The home is located on Lexington Avenue. It includes beautiful gardens and has been featured in recent years for home and garden tours.
