Cicero Maxwell Heavrin

Cicero Maxwell Heavrin, son of Francis Marion Heavrin and Artelia Ann Felix, was born 18 Feb 1861, Hancock County, KY; he was one of six children; he died 27 May 1939, Hancock County, KY.  In 1893 Cicero married Ada Cox (1869-1926), daughter of  Dr. Leonard Thomas Cox and Emeline E. Iler.  This marriage produced four children:  Marion Leonard Heavrin (1895-1951); Cecil Hubert Heavrin (1897-1948); Percy Garland Heavrin (1899-1943); and Earl Maxwell Heavrin, Sr. (1903-1971).

Cicero Heavrin lived in Hartford in 1870 when he was age 9 and in 1880 the census shows him living in Sulphur Springs, Ohio County. In the 1900 census he and his young family are listed as living in Owensboro and in 1920 they are living in Hawesville, Hancock County, Kentucky.  He died in Hancock County and is buried in Rosehill Elmwood Cemetery, Owensboro.  Cicero Heavrin was a physician.

Cicero’s first child, Marion Leonard, served in WWI and died in Indianapolis, IN in 1951.

His second child, Cecil Hubert, died in Bay Pines, Pinellas County, Florida, in 1948.

His third child, Percy Garland, died in Owensboro in 1943.

Cicero’s youngest son, Earl Maxwell, applied for membership to the Sons of the American Revolution Society in 1967 and his application was approved.  At the time of his application for membership, Earl Maxwell lived in Grand Prairie, Texas.  He based his application on being a descendant (great-grandson) of William Haynes (1740—1827).   Note: William Haynes died in Ohio County, KY 3 Aug 1827 and had served as a Private in the Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary War.   Earl Maxwell Heavrin served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was after the War became an attorney.
