FUNERAL LEDGERS – OHIO COUNTY, KENTUCKY
Transcription of funeral ledgers, partial
1914 to partial 1919. Transcribed by Mary Koegel, July 2006. Four account books
from an unnamed funeral home, listing payer, itemized costs, and payment
information for funerals from 1914 to 1939. The deceased is not always
mentioned. Note 1: the records are inconsistent and there are a lot of misspellings of names. Note 2: I have tried to
correct the formatting, as much as possible, to make the records easier to
read, but it's almost impossible. These ledgers are probably from Black & Birkhead Funeral Home. We have this data courtesy of Western
Kentucky University Library Archives.
This is a lot of material. The first post starts with the last month of 1914 and the first four months of 1915. This covers about 30 funerals.
