Arthur Lee Leach and wife, Marna Gustine Mills

Arthur Lee Leach, son of Charles Arthur Leach and Lula Bell Arnold, was born 13 July 1896 in Horse Branch, Ohio County. Arthur Lee was the only child of this marriage as his mother died 28 Jul 1898; his father remarried Joanna Hughes and there were eight children born of the second marriage – half siblings to Arthur Lee.

Arthur Lee joined the United States Marine Corps and served 12-28-1915 to 12-27-1919. In 1922 he married Marna Gustine “Peggy” Mills from Beda, Ohio County.  Peggy had three sisters, Mrs. Tymer Westerfield, Hartford, Mrs. Thomas McQuary, Bell's Run, and Mrs. Bessie Carlisle, Detroit, Mich; and  a brother, Murray Mills of Eureka, CA. 

Arthur Lee and Peggy lived in Herrin, Williamson County, IL.  Arthur Lee worked at an ordinance factory and Peggy worked for the local newspaper, the Herrin Daily Journal. They had two sons, Arthur Lee, Jr. and Charles Jerry.  Arthur Lee, Jr. was born 7 Jan 1924 and died July 1978 in Cook County, IL, and Charles Jerry was born 29 Dec 1925 and died 20 April 1992 in Munster, Lake County, IN.

Peggy died 20 Aug 1942 and Arthur Lee died 25 Feb 1943 – both died in Herrin, IL.
