ALFRED BRYANT ALLEN
Alfred B. Allen, born 14 Sep 1825, Ohio County,
the son of Asa Allen (1801-1875) and
Abigail Campbell (1800-1851). Alfred left Ohio
County when he was about 18 years old
and moved to Pike County, Illinois.
He married Emily Ann Askew 16
Jan 1846 and they remained in Pike
County for the remainder
of their lives. Emily was born in Sumner
County, TN 1 Aug 1828 and died in Pike
County (date unknown but
she is listed in the 1900 census).
Alfred died in 1903. They had
eleven children: Cornelia (1847-1891);
Benjamin D. (1848-1937); William W. (1850-); Alice (1852-); Nathan N. (1854-1920); Asa
C. (1858-1936); Richard H.
(1861-); J. Thomas (1866-); Charles F. (1868-1934 ); George W. (-1891); and John B. (-1891).
I found a
biography of Alfred in a book titled “Biographical
Album of Pike and Calhoun Counties,
Illinois” which was published
in 1891.
