And Many Others

The original version of this book was primarily about the Kentucky descendants. John E. Young updated this book in 2008 & the revision was published by Janaway Publishing, Inc. (Second Edition, 2008) and used copies are available for purchase on the internet. This is a scholarly work and those family members that created this book did a wonderful job.

If you want to get a printed version, contact Janaway Genealogy BooksThey also have this Rowan book on a CD in PDF format.

Apparently a member of the Rowan family first came to Ohio County in the early 1800's. Harry Rowan, born 1805, was a slave of Dr. Alexander Rowan.  Harry married Catherine and they had seven children. Many members of the descendants of this family stayed in Ohio County and some moved away.  The family has a Rowan Family Reunion annually that first started in 1896. The reunion for 2017 will be held in Louisville in August and will be the 122nd annual event.  This is a wonderful tradition and a truly amazing family.

I do not have the entire book. I "word-searched" what I have by using the search term "Ohio" and found about 89 individuals that were born in (or otherwise had contact with) Ohio County.  I will list them in this post.  There are many other names in this post, such as spouses, so you might want to "word-search" this post with your family surnames.  This is a treasure trove of information for Ohio County genealogists and we owe many thanks to those that worked so hard to find and compile this information.  The following is in alphabetical order by surname:
